A study carried out by the National Organisation of Technology in Research, Economics, Arts and Literature has found that work rates of men alarmingly rose by up to 47% during the international break.

A spokesman for the council stated that “male workers work ethic seemed to improve vastly during the international break. Especially when the Three Lions or the Boys in Green donned their national colours. With a direct correlation shown over the years, it’s clear to see that men do love the national side.”

“Companies throughout the nation have reaped the rewards of good showings. With some multi-nationals even purchasing corporate boxes to reward hard workers throughout the year.”

“Whether it has been Robbie Keane scoring against the Gibraltar, or Wayne Rooney scoring a penalty against San Marino, men seem to be more motivated to work harder.”

Bosses around the UK and Ireland are hoping for the UK and Irish teams to make the world cup and to advance late into the competition. As workers seem to be better motivated to do a better job when their national side is playing.
